Completion: All have sinned

This week we will begin to look at the final stage of the Hero’s Journey, Completion. Jesus has embraced the call. He has faced the challenge of not only the cross but also the grave. This week we will see the purpose and the power of the resurrection. It begins by understanding that we all have sinned and are in need of a Savior. When we acknowledge that we are sinners then we must ask what is it that we can do to be forgiven. Despite us trying all sorts of ways to make ourselves feel better for our sins, it is only in Christ that we have forgiveness. The only way to have that forgiveness is through Christ’s victory over Satan, sin, and death.

SCRIPTURE:
Romans 3:21–26
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

REFLECTION
Would you agree most everyone you know would say they are a “sinner?” Why do you think those who are far from God don’t acknowledge their need for a savior?

Why do you think God based salvation on Faith of the work of Christ instead of the work of man to be good enough?

How has your understanding of faith grown in the past year?

PRAYER:
Spend some time confessing you are STILL a sinner in need of Savior and Thanking God for his willingness to send Christ to be that Savior.
